Connie Rae offers a very eclectic mix of roots rock, blues and folk. "Crimson Moon" is very tastefully done with a couple of cuts using multi-track vocal harmonics giving it a tinge of
"The Cranberries". Wonderful stuff from a vocal favorite. She sounds like a sweeter version of Bonnie Raitt.

What struck me about " Crimson Moon " are the many different styles of music on the CD. "Thunder and Lightning" is an intense piece with a very Spanish Moorish beat. Then comes "Jubilee" with a 60's, funky, Donovan-like feel. "Howl at the Moon" is a lovely country/folk song. "One Of These Days"  is a real country blues number with a great beat. I love "Wicked" with that Spanish beat. "Seven Year Itch" goes back to that funky 60's style. "My Heart Goes Boom" is a great Texas two step piece ."River" is pure down home country blues. "Goin Down" is a rhythmic country folk style song. "Winding Waltz" has great mandolin work. "The Wall", "Enchanted Road", "The Slide" and "End of Time" pay homage to Connie Rae's Texas roots with great country and blues. The CD was produced by the good folks at Race Productions. This debut CD from Connie Rae is a wonderful effort and tribute to Connie's passion and playing guitar.

I'm cruising home down a long, dark road and I reach for a CD to keep me company. It's one of our own, a homegrown product. It starts to spin and I am transported. There's a warmth and familiarity in the music. Bone calls it new 60's. It's like a neo-hippy thing. The disc is well produced and has eye-catching art work.
"Thunder and Lightning" sets the tone with tight harmonics and "Watchtower" guitar lines followed by "Jubilees" Thirteenth Floor Elevator psychedelic mood. The vocal on "Wicked" has a real "White Rabbit" feel and the electric guitar is soaring, shimmering period stuff. "Crimson Moon" proves that Connie is an artist coming into her own voice. It's a good package of tight songs in a friendly groove.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Incredible Connie Rae
From the moment I first heard her voice stab the air with sonic adrenaline, I knew Connie's vocals were unique and exciting. Somewhat reminiscent of Deborah Harry, her "voice of the wind" singing style needs no vibrato to powerfully resonate with the youthful intensity of alternative rock. The decisive songwriting actually has, I feel, a uniqueness comparable to even David Bowie's. It is refreshingly eclectic. Not one track I heard fits within a single definable category of music. Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Connie Rae has a sound all her own
It's nice to hear music that you don't need to edit before your kids hear it. This is a CD that everyone can listen to. Her music is a combination of country/rock and blues/folk blended into an eclectic sound. I was fortunate enough to hear this very talented lady play live at the Riverhead, N.Y. Blues Festival this summer.I continue to listen to this great CD and wish her much success. The acoustic sounds of Connie Rae's music takes your "Body and Soul" on a flight way up high above The Crimson ... Read More
